Carlijn Mens
Carlijn Mens(1972), The Netherlands. Her working material is charcoal; and 'howe to make light with the black of it' and consists of extreme big drawings, very small one's, video, installation and animation. She earned a Master in Fine Art from the Dutch Art Institute in Enschede, Netherlands and she studied at the Akademie voor Kunst en Vormgeving/St. Joost, Den Bosch. She is a painter from the beginning but she specialised herself with charcoal on paper. She took part in several projects, 'Here as the centre of the world', a trans national research project, DAI, Enschede and worked on location during big events like 'Sail Amsterdam, Amsterdam. An instalation of her was placed in the Scheepvaart Museum, Amsterdam. And she took part in expositions as Kunstvlaai 6 and Stedelijk Museum De lakenhal, Scheltema, Leiden.
